Goals
[edit]Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Although we haven't achieved all our targets, we are satisfied with our results, for the second time we attend the contest in our country and despite the problems linked to the COVID-19 pandemic :
- 1328 photos were uploaded by 44 participants (with 22 Uploaders registered after competition start)
- 309 photos are used in the wikis
- 3 training and upload sessions were held in Abomey-Calavi
- 2 training and upload sessions were held in Cotonou
- 3 training and upload sessions were held online
- Media participation in the events increased the visibility of the wikimedia projects and the Wiki loves africa 2020 contest in Benin. It also helps to reach some goals after the locked up and containment due to the COVID pandemic.
- The exhibition of the 20 best beninese photos is displayed and promoted on our social media accounts and partners website since may, 25th.

Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
- The mobilization of participants during the sessions of workshop, training, upload and editathon, even during the containment period due to the COVID-19
- The commitment of participants motivated by the desire to win a prize
- The media coverage gave more visibility to the contest and our activities : Several articles were written (Press and internet) and a radio and TV report broadcast :
- Reinforcing Partnership with Campus Numerique francophone de Cotonou and Institut Français du Bénin
- Awareness-raising in Cotonou and Abomey-Calavi allowed the participation of several photographers and amateurs
- The adaptation to solve the COVID-19 issues
- What did not work so well?
- Bad internet connexion sometimes during uploading session
- Participants would like outgoings or photo walk sessions
- Few number of professional photographer within the participants
- No local sponsors
- What would you do differently next time?
- Contacting sooner sponsors and improve the submitted project documents
- Trying to interest more professional photographers
- Organising more uploading sessions and at least 2 editathons, we could try more online activities for instance.
- The contest time had been expanded. We'll take it in account next time to plan our activities.

Anything else
[edit]Anything else you want to share about your project?
This project was very relevant for us. Indeed, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we've tested new kinds of workshop. We held online sessions and despite the fact we couldn't organize IRL events during a part of the contest time, we've reached some goals which made us occupying the third place in the ranking of numbers of uploaded photos by country.
We've also discovered new tools like Montage used for the jury, and ISA to improve photos descriptions.
