Outcome

Shared Experience and New Creation

I'm giving an interview to Le Monde and France Inter (read here)
Sign indicating that Francophones are meeting.

This was my third participation for Wikimania, and London was particularly productive! First, Charles (WMCH) and I put the stands of Francophone chapters together at the Community Village, which allowed many exchanges between members and contributors of Francophone projects. A journalist from the famous Le Monde interviewed me at our stand (here) and now I'm invited in many Canadian medias since I'm back from London!

Then, a short but rewarding meeting with Magnus Manske has set up a metric page and thus consolidate the GLAM Poirier Project between Wikimedia Canada and National Library and Archives of Quebec. A pilot project where we are currently uploading on Wikimedia Commons a thousand pictures from Canadian Public Domain.

I'm coordinator of WikiFranca and animate the meeting of the francophones for a third consecutive year, and this year the French were very numerous. We discussed several topics, including the International Francophone Month contribution (prezi slides) which is currently in preparation for a second year (see all workshops on a map).

I did a lot of other things at WM2014, this is why I like Wikimania sooooo much!

Connections

[edit]

I met a lot of people, beginning by the French speaker meetup, around 40 people showed up. I was the animator and I also did a presentation about Contribution Month; good discussions have emerged from this meeting, which lasted two hours.

I also had a breakfast with Jake Orlowitz (User:Ocaasi) about The Wikipedia Library to have it in French. A short meeting with Magnus Manske about the Baglama tool. My roommate Abbad Diraneyya (User:عباد ديرانية) and I, had great talks about the situation of Wikipedia in Arabic World and especially in Jordan; we will work together in order to have documents translated and maybe a Wikipedia Takes Amman.

And of course nice talks around a glass of wine with members of Iberocoop. Wikimania is always very prolific in terms of meeting people.

Anything else

[edit]

Finally, I want to thank Wikimedia Foundation very much for giving me the opportunity of attending to Wikimania; it's such a pleasure to meet, discuss, listen and share about my passion, Wikipedia. Best regards.
