    Proposed participation

    [edit]

We expect to raise awareness of use of Wikipedia in Education and different ways of contributing besides writing of new content articles. It is an effort to encourage more educators and teachers to use Wikipedia in school projects and explain the benefits of it. This will also help educators guide their students in contributing to Wikimedia projects. We expect that raising the interest of educators in formal education will create a movement of implementing Wikipedia assignments within the existing curriculum of many courses. The papers will be published in the minutes of the conference, available for free (so the potential audience is even wider than the actual participants).

Moreover, for this work with worked together with Maria Iliadou a interpreter and translator project manager in order to explain the advantages of using Content Translator in Foreign languages classes in Greek high schools and Universities. Moreover, Maria Iliadou participates in "Why Women Don't Edit In Wikipedia" project too and is in contact with the Wikimedia Community User Group Greece in order to become an active Wikimedian herself.

    Budget breakdown

    [edit]

We have decided that we do not need to be all of us in the conferences, in order to cut travelling expenses and avoid personal burnout. Still the conference organisers ask for registration from all authors of a paper, so we cannot avoid the registration fees. We will also make use of our student identities to reduce budget. We will cover accommodation by ourselves.

    1st:

    • Accommodation: 0 €
    • Travel: 0 €
    • Per diem: 0 €
    • Registration fees: 120 €

    2nd (two persons attending):

    • Accommodation: 0 €
    • Travel (round trip airfare from Corfu to Athens; (round trip airfare from Thessaloniki to Athens): 220 €
    • Per diem: 50 €
    • Registration fees: 0 €

    Other instructions
