Proposed participation

[edit]

I am an active Wikipedian with a considerable contribution on Gender Gap Issue and Education Program. I have had a submission accepted at Open Tech Summit, where I will speak about the gender gap issue that exist on Wikipedia. I have done a lot of activities and i am planing to do more in collaboration with others Wikimedias(like Serbian one) to increase the participation of females on editing Wikipedia.

Goal and expected impact

[edit]

The problem is, that are so many people that doesn't know about this big gap on Wikipedia. And the other who knows, just blame to females not being active enough like males. But the problem is not that simple. As a result of my talk, hopefully i will inform the audience to know more about this issue. And together to give solutions about this problem and how to reduce the gap. It is not enough just to edit Wikipedia, it is really important to have all the knowledge from all the people.

Budget breakdown

[edit]
  • Travel: Albania-Berlin-Albania 280 USD
  • Accommodation: USD 30 per night x 3 nights = USD 90
  • Meals: 2 meals/day(lunch, dinner)*3 night = 60 USD

Note: 10 USD per meal

  • Trasportation Airport-Hotel: 10 USD = 20 USD

Note: The day ticket for metro is 8EURO ~ 10USD. I need 2, to go to hotel and to go back to airport.

  • About the accommodation the price can be lower if i find more people to share the room. And the ticket also if i book it as soon as possible.

Other instructions

[edit]

I dont need visa to Berlin but as a student, if i win this scholarship i would really appreciate if Wikimedia will do the booking of the plane ticket.

Endorsements

Greta is one of the most active members of the Albanian-speaking Wikipedia community. During 2014 and the first months of the 2015 she has been involved and organised a series of community-based activities that focus not only to the importance of sharing knowledge, but also lately to issues such as the closure of the gender gap in technology. Activities she has organized and participated include, but are not limited to Wikipedia Weekend 2014, WikiAcademy Kukes where she was a mentor along with myself, Open Source Conference Albania, where she presented a thesis about the WikiAkademia Shqiptare project and hosted a workshop about editing wikipedia, WikiCafe, which is a local meetup of active wikipedians and more.

I strongly believe that her participation in Open Tech Summit and experience there will help Wikipedia raise issues such as gender gap even more and also help the local community get inspired after she comes back and shares her experience with us. Redon skikuli (talk) 11:48, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

It has been a pleasure to know Greta through various activities related to Wikipedia and free software, most lately working on Wiki Academy Kukes and Wiki Women Camp Prishtina. She is leading the way with her activity in sq.Wikipedia and beyond linking offline world with online Wikipedia. She has my full support. --Arianit (talk) 14:52, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

Greta has been working on projects related to Wikis and Wikipedia since 2012. She has been focused mainly on increasing the local albanian community by organising local and international events such as Wikipedia Weekend 2014, WikiCafe. Lately she is also involved with the gender gap issue and is trying to address this issue in many ways, such as organising Wiki Women Camp in Prishtina & discussing about it at Open Tech Summit. I believe that the experience she'll gather in Open Tech Summit will help to ease the overcome of the gender gap on albanian language wikipedia. ViolaCiv (talk) 18:03, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

I have known Greta for less than a year, but we have had a very fruitful exchange for this few months when it comes to wiki world. We have participated together at the Ada Camp Berlin, after that I have been to Tirana during the Wikipedia weekend which was organized by Greta. Now, we are in everyday contact because we are together organizing first regional Wiki Women Camp which will be held in Prishtina from 24th to 26th of April. My own experience with Greta is that she is an enthusiast when it comes to the issues of gender gap, she is very good coordinator for organizing events and an excellent contributor to the Wiki world in this part of Europe. I am happy to endorse her. Trans Goat (talk) 16:07, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
