Grants:TPS/Noopur28/Libreplanet 2014/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Event name: LibrePlanet 2014

Outcome: (choose one from below)

Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally)?

I shared information and experiences of working on related projects. One was the Wiki-histories internship at Khoj International Artists' Association and the second was about adding relevant audio-visual material related to the artists and residencies at Khoj on an open access archive named Pad.ma. I am still waiting for a video link to my talk at the conference. Will update the report or will be happy to share if anyone wants it, once it is up.

Finances:

  • $1,000 (as approved in my grant) = return ticket (New Delhi-Boston-New Delhi)

(Tickets have already been mailed)

Amount left over (please specify currency):

Total ticket amount was $1,100. Hence, no amount left.

Anything else you want to share?

To be uploaded. It was immensely inspiring to hear Sue Gardner's keynote at the conference. Sue made a very pertinent point about making "usable, successful" open and free products. She also reiterated that it is good and desirable to "make money" because it enables us to scale. Given the kind of crowd (mostly "free software" activists and contributors), I think it was a healthy provocation.
