I have several years experience in wiki design (mostly in conjunction with Semantic Mediawiki). One of my early projects was a way of in-wiki design and maintaining of entity classes, together with inheritance and relation management. With this system it was possible to manage different entity classes (like Toys, Persons), export them to other wikis for reusability and also expand them into more refined classes together with inheritance (e.g. Actors inherit from Persons and so on).
After the first release of Semantic Scribunto I got back to that idea and I am curretly in the process of turning this into an offical extension. I would like to take the opportunity and present my experience thus far and also my work on this extension on the EMWCon Spring 2017. I also would like to gain feedback from the community, especially regarding requirements and opeation scenarios.
Also, I would be glad to hold a second talk, giving people insight in the development of the SSC extenions. Depending on whether the chair would be interested in such a presentation.
Goal and expected impact
The success and usabily of a wiki system depends highly on the design of its entity classes. Which is tedious and difficult work. The aim of my presentation is to share my experience and to give the audience insight in some approaches to deal with this problem. Hopefully, an open discussion will help all pariticipants to learn about new and different ways in dealing with wiki design.
