Project summary[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • As a female Wikimedian residing in Funtua, I am passionate about promoting gender equity in my community through a Wikimedia project. The aim is to actively engage and empower fellow women to contribute their knowledge and experiences to Wikipedia. By organizing this project, we hope to bridge the gender gap in online knowledge representation and encourage women in Funtua to become active contributors to the world's largest online encyclopedia. Together, we can amplify the voices and perspectives of women, fostering a more inclusive and diverse representation on Wikipedia.

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Our Wikimedia project in Funtua aims to promote gender equity and engage women in contributing to Wikipedia. It will span two days, combining both online and offline activities. We will begin with online training, targeting housewives who may find it difficult to participate in person. The offline project will follow the online training, involving a wider range of participants, primarily women. Throughout the training sessions, we will educate attendees on how to contribute to Wikipedia and emphasize its value as a powerful knowledge-sharing tool. By empowering women with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to Wikipedia, we hope to foster a more inclusive and diverse representation of information online.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I will share in Futua community WhatsApp group and other related WhatsApp groups

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

All participants will know in Funtua community WhatsApp group and I will inform my classmates in school and some will know via Phone call.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
