Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • Lack of editors in hausa Wiktionary It was I decided to apply for a grant in order to planning a project to teach a number of participants how to edit in Hausa Wiktionary. This program will provide awareness to participants about Wiktionary to participants. The program will also enhance Hausa Wiktionary by producing improved articles on Wiktionary.

Hausa Wiktionary awareness have never take place at Dala Kano, while this local government is among the most biggest local government in Kano State and the most of them don't know on how to make a research and contribute to the Hausa Wiktionary. Therefore, through this project I will use this opportunity to bring a changes by recruiting the new editors for the Hausa Wikipedia. In advance,  The aims of this project is to provide quality articles and experience editors from Dala Community to be contributing Wiktionary and Wikimedia sister projects.

  4. Creat Awareness about Hausa Wiktionary in G.S.S Dala
  5. Gain more viuwers to Wikimedia sister project.
  6. Get more contributors to Wikimedia

Activities[edit]

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Is a two days series of Edit-a-thon.

It will be two days series of edit-a-thon. I and facilitators we will teach the participants how to make editing on Wiktionary and guid them to create and make editing on Hausa Wiktionary.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let the participants know via, phone calls, SMS messages, Emails and our existence WhatsApp group Kano Wikimedians. I will also announce via Our Hausa Wikimedians WhatsApp and Telegram groups, I will also announce via our Hausa Wikipedia and Hausa Wiktionary Discussion pages.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:Kaizenify

Yes I have experience editors like: user:M Bash Ne, User:A Suleiman Z, user:AleeyuAdam123 and user:Baban Sadiq 2

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, some of them have Smartphones and some have Laptops, also we will provide data for them during the event.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will create a WhatsApp group which I will continue engaging them there. And many of the participants are my coursemate, I will continue engaging them in any way.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Dala is the largest local government in Kano State, there is a need to run Wikimedia Projects in Dala to get Wikimedia editors and develop Wikimedia Projects.

I Baban Sadiq 2 organizer of the event with help of M Bash Ne as project lead, which he is lead many projects in the past. And he is experience Wikimedia editor.
