  • This project seeks to create awareness and sensitize students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri school about Wikipedia.
  • This project will create an avenue for students to identify themselves with Wikipedia.
  • it will formalize them on Wikipedia editing
  • it will introduce them on how to search and source materials from Wikipedia.
  • This project will propeller them to contribute to open and free knowledge of Wikipedia.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings? One Edit-a-thons and training 2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

The facilitator will make it known to Wikimedia User Group Nigeria,Igbo Wikimedia User Group, Alvan Fan Club and Art and Feminism, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Through social media :WhatsApp, Facebook, Shot Message Service, phone calls and physical meet ups.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

I will support them through the use of media - ICT equipment like a projector for easy assimilation, articulation and understanding.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

The participants personal online contacts will be collected for group information. Secondly, there would be weekly meetings and updates. Thirdly, There would be mini in- house contests and online meetings.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project will facilitate students to read wide and study harder. It would also help to foster the founding of Federal University of Technology Fan Club.

  4. Number of of articles created or improved - - To work on (70) articles for the startment.
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)
  6. Level of commitment - - - Ability to be focused and contribute to the training.
  7. Response to questions - - If at least (15) of my stated questions are answered correctly.

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

I have human and material resources. The facilitators which include: User Onwuka Glory and User Lucy Iwuala are highly resourceful in terms of Wikipedia and it's Sister projects. User Onwuka Glory will handle Content creation, editing, referencing and Citation. User Lucy Iwuala, will handle translation and photo uploads. I Onwuka Glory will not source for funding elsewhere.

  • Data for the participants - N500 × 30 = N15, 000
