Grants:Wikimedia UG Nigeria Grants/Wikimedia User Group Nigeria Community Support Fund/M Bash Ne/Enhancing References in Hausa Wikipedia

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • There are hundreds of articles on Hausa Wikipedia that lack references. I have noticed that the editors of Hausa Wikipedia seem to prioritize creating new articles rather than improving existing ones. This proposed project aims to teach editors how to identify articles without references and how to add proper citations to them. The project will greatly assist in providing reliable citations for Hausa Wikipedia articles that currently lack sources.

The project consists of a two-day series of training and awareness sessions. On the first day, the training will be conducted online, where participants will gather virtually to receive instruction on identifying articles without sources and adding citations to them. The second day of the project will involve a physical edit-a-thon, where participants will come together in person to collaborate on adding citations to Hausa Wikipedia articles.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

All the participants will know mostly via Hausa Community WhatsApp groups and other project's groups
