  • The Wikipedia awareness program in Fountain University aims to introduce Wikimedia projects to the university students and also how they can understand Wikipedia to be a pedagogical tool for accessing new and improved information in the 21st century.
  • It will allow the participants deep-dive into importance of Wikipedia as a reliable information source.
  • It will also enable and enhance their critical evaluation and learning skills.
  • It will serve them as an effective research and reference tool for thier academic work.
  • It will allow accessing information in various languages and areas get meaningful information in their area of expertise.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

  • The community network has been informed and also the school department lecturers and department president has been notified.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

  • The benefits of carrying out this awareness is to improve information literacy and research skills among the students of Fountain University.
  • To promotes open access to knowledge and scholarly communication
  • To contributes to diversity and representation on Wikipedia
  • To encourage and enhances critical thinking among the students.
