Photograph helps to capture the reader's attention better than having so many write ups, it enriches and illustrates content, and it gives spice to an article and make the article more engaging for readers.

Uncountable images have been contributed to Wikimedia Commons through various photo walks, and contests Yet relatively few of these photos have been used on Wikipedia articles.

This project is one of it's kind as Wikimedia Anambra Network will join in the WpWp annual campaign to add photos to Wikipedia pages lacking photos. This is to promote the use of digital media files collected from various Wikimedia photography contest .

This project aim to bridge a huge gap as there are alot of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons that have not been used on Wikipedia article pages.

Project Goal

Choose one or more of the following goals. Feel free to add or delete goals as required by your project.

1 recruit new editors: This project will help in inviting new editors to the Network.

2 Add or improve content: It will help in improving Wikipedia article pages.

3 Train new and old Editors: This project will help in training editors that joined the Network in other projects held in the community on the basics of uploading photos and adding the photo to a Wikipedia Article.

We are doing One Editathon/training

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We have informed the Community about the project in our WhatsApp to learn how to add photos to articles. We also informed them on our Discussion page here

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We have a WhatsApp group where our communication officer do let the Network know about the project of the month and also we do announce our upcoming projects in Our meet-ups.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

User: Senator Choko I am experienced and I will lead the Event and will be assisted by Ennydavids and Ngostary2k 5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, participants have their laptops and Phones but I will support them by showing them how to navigate the Wikimedia website.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We have WhatsApp group where we normally follow participants up.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project is a good one,it will help in training community members and improve their Wikimedia projects experience

• This project will help increase the skills and knowledge of old Wikimedians and also introduce new participants who will be trained to contribute to the Wikimedia foundation open knowledge.

 Strong support Many Wikipedia articles lack photographs, which can make them less engaging and informative. The "Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos" campaign addresses this by encouraging contributors to add images to these articles Ennydavids (talk) 5:51, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
