Report accepted[edit]

Hi, HPN, thanks for submitting this midpoint report. It is great to have a record of your progress so far, and thank you for sharing screen shots and links to published code, etc. I am excited to see how users will begin to interact with WikiTrack! 2 suggestions for improvement that I would like to be sure you're incorporating into your final report as you work on completing that next:

  1. Community engagement and user interaction. So, first you've built this thing. Now, how are the users that you built it for interacting with it? I am very curious to understand how many people are using it, which languages are you seeing it gain traction in, what your users like or dislike about the apps, etc. Perhaps it is too soon to tell, if you haven't yet begun promoting within the international Wikimedia community, but that's going to be really the most important and exciting thing about this project, and what you'll need in order to demonstrate success. So, I strongly encourage you to focus on this as part of your final report. And, when you're ready to blog or need any help figuring out how else to promote it, please know that we're happy to kick around ideas with you as needed.
  2. Budget tracking. You mention that you've needed to use funds reserved for some expenses to pay for other unanticipated costs instead. Please go ahead and use your finances table to track this in more detail. The "actual funds spent" column can be used as a work in progress where you can state what costs have actually been for each item. If you haven't spent for project management yet, you can put a 0 there for now, and briefly footnote why (because you've needed to spend on x instead). If you have costs that don't fit anywhere into the approved line items, you can add a row to describe the expense. This will help us decide if we need to approve any changes to your budget going forward, and if you feel more funds are needed, tracking it this way can help us better understand and assess that as well. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, and remember that it is a wiki so we can always clean things up later where needed :)

Meanwhile, we're accepting this report today, and looking forward to your final one soon! Best wishes, Siko (WMF) (talk) 18:52, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
