Report Accepted
[edit]Thank you for this clear and detailed report! The report is accepted. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 00:52, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Your results are very impressive, both in terms of number of photos (24,000!!), quality of photos, and the fact that 100 new articles have been created so far. The photowalks are a great addition to the competition. We appreciate your thinking around impact and agree it's a good idea to continue events in towns where you have now gained traction through WLM. In terms of addressing the quality of photos, it might be a good idea to add a short section on photography basics to your trainings or at the start of the photowalks. We hope to initiate a discussion on the Wiki Loves Monuments mailing list around how to address the trend in decreasing participants. Please watch that list for more information. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk)
We recommend that you also use the Glamorous tool to measure the integration of photos into wiki projects as a way to assess impact. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 00:52, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
We are fine with your suggested use of the remaining funds. One question is if it is convenient to travel by personal car or bus instead of via taxi? We are not familiar with the transportation or geography so understand if taxis are the most efficient way to travel. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 00:52, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Alex, Thank you very much for the approval of the report and the allocation request, as well as your warm words and advises. We feel really encouraged!
- About the taxis: I am now trying consult with my team about alternatives, in general we thought that it might be not very convenient to travel with public transport as we have to carry with us the exhibition material (including 20-30 PVC photographs). And none of us has a personal car. But I will check if there are alternatives and will respond soon here.
- Thank you once again! We are looking forward to the next WLM contest! --vacio 12:17, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for considering the most economical way to travel for the exhibitions/workshops. However, if you are bringing a lot of material and it is more convenient to hire a taxi, then that is of course fine. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 16:39, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Reallocation
[edit]Dear Grant Administration. As we were extremely busy with other projects, we weren't able to spend the remaining funds for organizing WLM exhibitions as planned earlier. Moreover, most of our team members will be busy with Wiki Camp, so we decided to cancel these exhibitions.
On the other hand, we don't have funds to provide prizes for the national winners of Wiki Loves Earth. Is it possible to relocate the remaining funds and use them to buy those prizes? --vacio 11:28, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi vacio. Thank you for the update. Do you still plan on using all of the remaining funds for WLE prizes? 295,410 AMD seems like quite a lot. Please let us know the exact budget for the prizes and what the prizes will be. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 18:56, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dear Alex Wang (WMF), I have been inactive in Wikimedia Armenia for a almost a year, but I learned recently that the the remaining amount mentioned above is still on the Bank account of Wikimedia Armenia. On the other hand, I learned that we were unable to allocate funds to give prizes to winners of WLE AM, so I kindly reapply again to relocate the remaining funds of WLM Armenia 2013 for buying prices for WLE AM 2014 participants.
- The remaining amount is from WMF grant is 135,190 AMD (about USD 280) (there was also 160,220 AMD left from the grant we received from one of our sponsors, but Wikimedia Armenia reallocated this already for other projects). We would like to use this 135,190 AMD to buy 3 external hard drives (1-2 TB) for the 3 winners of WLE 2013. Each external costs approximately 45,000 AMD. So the total amount would be approximately the same as the remaining amount of 135,190 AMD. --vacio 12:27, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi vacio. It seems quite late to be giving prizes for WLE 2013. I would recommend that WMAM reallocate this underspend towards their recently approved Wiki Camp 2015 grant (pinging Lilitik22). Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 17:01, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Dear Alex, Vacio has confused the dates of the contest, we participated in WLE 2014 not in WLE 2013. I think it's not late to award the winners of 2014 contest. What do you think? Is it still late for the prizes? --Lilitik22 (talk) 17:38, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Lilitik22. Thanks for the clarification. It seems a little late, but not too late :). This is approved. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 17:41, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you :) --Lilitik22 (talk) 18:08, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Great, thank you Alex. Thanks for correcting me Lilit. --vacio 10:10, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
