Thank you for taking the time to submit your proposal. We are pleased to have reviewed it and have the following comments and questions;
- The proposal is very exciting. A project to preserve intangible cultural heritage is always a welcome project. Having more endangered topics covered in open projects is exciting. Its strengths lie in the team overseeing the project having the knowledge and skill in this documentation effort.
- With regards to the budget, would you share more details on the rationale or basis of the personnel costs. What’s guiding or informing them?
- You indicated a statement “This knowledge will likely fail Wikipedia's notability criteria” in the proposal. Knowledge about underrepresented topics is difficult to compete with well-documented knowledge. How will you navigate this challenge knowing that the goal of the project and Wikimedia projects is to enable knowledge inclusivity and equity and not be a barrier?
- How can you make this project sustainable?
- Are there other risks and mitigation strategies, related to the implementation and sustainability of the project beyond those mentioned in the application?

Thank you for taking the time to review the proposal and provide feedbacks. We are also excited about the positive feedback on the proposal. We have also taken the time to address some of the identified concerns as explained below:

Wikimedia Community Fund approved in the amount of $23,000USD[edit]
Hello Dolphyb, Ptinphusmia and Emmanuel Obiajulu,
Congratulations! Your grant is approved in the amount of $23,000USD, with a grant term starting 1 July 2022 and ending December 2022.
We are excited about this cultural project seeking to conduct audio-visual documentation of Igbo dances. We found the information shared useful in providing clarity about the challenge that informs the project and how the outcomes of the project will contribute to closing knowledge gaps. We were pleased to learn about the partners you intend to collaborate with including Wikimedia communities, like Wikimedia Nigeria which has embarked on a similar project in the past. It was great learning about your pro-activeness in already identifying potential advisors and partners who will inform the development of the project. We believe the opportunity to learn from subject experts and communities will strengthen your project. We encourage you to document the impact of the project in a manner accessible to other communities in the region, who would be interested in projects such as this, focusing on cultural documentation.
We find the project feasible and acknowledge the ambition you hold to document 60 Igbo dances in the 6 months project period. We recommend reducing the scope of the project to for instance focus on 30 dances creating an opportunity for eased implementation while avoiding your capacity being stretched. Our hope is that with a reduced scope, you will be able to have more flexibility to include learnings that will support ongoing implementation but also the future development of the project.
Kindly adjust the budget to fit the needs of the reduced scope and please feel free to reach out to the regional program officer to provide you with any support needed in making the adjustments.
Overall, we are excited about the project and look forward to learning more about the impact achieved.
