Hello İsnaaa, and thanks for your proposal supporting a Wikipedia-themed student club at Üsküdar University. I'm Chris Schilling, a program officer supporting funding needs for communities in Central and Eastern Europe. Here are my comments and questions about your proposal:

  • I've noted that you volunteered at a Wikidata-related event in Istanbul, where you were able to communicate your ideas about the proposal. I'm glad you have been able to connect with some community members around this idea. Have you had an opportunity to reach out to Wikimedia Community User Group Turkey, which is also based in Istanbul? If not, please try to reach out them first to see how they may be able to support your needs and ideas at Üsküdar University.
  • Unfortunately, we will not be able to fund the proposal at this time. It's great to see you have a large team to support different tasks related to activities and operations in your club. However, one important concern is that many members of your team do not have adequate, documented experience contributing to relevant Wikimedia projects to this proposal. Some team members began their accounts late last year, and have few contributions to relevant Wikimedia projects, such as Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Turkish Wikipedia. This experience is especially important for those in training roles. Over the next year, we encourage your team to gain more experience using and contributing to Wikimedia projects related to the training topics you want to cover in the context of club activities before submitting another proposal for Rapid Funds. At that time, it would also be helpful to see what materials you will use to support your training activities.

Thanks again for your proposal, and let me know if you have any questions. I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 22:36, 30 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
