[MEA _ Rapid] [ Not Funded] GIJ Editathon Series[edit]

Dear Nimot,

Thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement most efficiently and effectively.

After thoroughly reviewing your application, we have decided not to fund your Rapid Fund request. The reasons for declining your funding application are as follows;

  • Overall, we find it challenging to understand the project's feasibility, especially regarding experience in both Wikimedia projects and in relation to the target of 180 participants.
  • We see a possibility of duplication of efforts with other groups sharing similar goals and would therefore advise you to explore collaboration possibilities.
  • It was unclear to the reviewers the rationale guiding the prizes plan.
  • We also did find a lack of clarity in costs such as administration and logistics.
  • The metrics and learning questions shared were unclear and not aligned with the overall impact goals of the project.

We advice that you incorporate this feedback into proposals you may make for future funding request.

Thank You.
