  1. As a person who edits West Slavic languages (Old Polish, Old Czech, Polish, Silesian, Kashubian) and who works with Martin, I think the given proposal would be massively beneficial, especially with regard to maintaining translations, but not only. I support this, more automated QA tools would be helpful, especially something that would benefit multiple communities by cross referencing and comparing "facts" between multiple wiktionary sites or wikidata.

Funded[edit]

Hello @tbm, thanks for submitting this Rapid Fund proposal. We are glad to inform you that your grant request has been reviewed and approved. We are funding this request with the following quick questions.

  • Could you please clarify where the tools will be hosted? Are they going to be gadgets on Wiktionaries or tools hosted on Toolforge, or both?
  • Once the tools are created, would you please make some outreach efforts, so that other Wiktionary communities are also aware of them? Could you make the documentation translatable for other communities?

Thanks again for your work on the application. You will receive an email with the follow up steps. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:47, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!
Question 1) Neither. The current plan is to create a set of Python scripts that people can run on their own machine; additionally, I will personally run the scripts and create tablets on Wiktionary with issues found so people can fix them (without having to run the scripts). You make a good point about Toolforge - I will look into that and see if it can be hosted there.
Question 2) I have "Community Building" in the budget for outreach efforts - that's definitely part of the plan. I am not sure about making documentation translatable - I need to check that. Thanks for the suggestion. Tbm (talk) 09:07, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Project delayed[edit]

While I made some progress, unfortunately I haven't been able to complete this project according to the schedule we originally agreed. @DSaroyan (WMF): is it possible to get an extension, for example until the end of March? I believe I can complete the project by then. Thank you! Tbm (talk) 14:58, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Tbm, thanks for posting your request on the discussion page. I have reviewed and formally approved it. The new grant end date is 31 March 2024 and the final report is due on 30 April 2024. DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:51, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, thank you! Tbm (talk)
