With my experience at AFC, AFD, and NPP, I discovered most of the problems faced by Nigerians while editing and creating articles on Wikipedia are mostly tied to unreliable sources. During the interactions with most new and at times old editors, after assuming good faith, it usually becomes very obvious that it is the lack of expertise in the identification of reliable sources that make them use dependent, paid advertorials and unreliable sources to back up their claims.

Therefore, as the project manager of this project, we have conceptualise, break down and even translate some of the material on reliable sources to different modules that will help to train the editors both in English and the other Wiki languages in the North eastern Nigeria, (Hausa and Fulbe) and I believe the outcome would produce wiki editors that are well equipped in the creating and editing of Wikipedia articles with reliable and verifiable sources. The "RELIABLE SOURCES DRIVE FOR WIKIPEDIA 1.0 (NORTHEAST NIGERIA)" project by the OPEN KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE will help build trust in Wikipedia for people in the Northeast. Through teaching editors to find credible sources and collaborating with journalists, it ensures accurate and reliable information on our culture and history. This means when we read articles about our community, we can trust that they are true and represent us well. Plus, it will train the participants online and offline to avoid issues like using unreliable sources, which can lead to being blocked from editing. --A'isha A Ibrahim (talk) 21:33, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
