Sent back for review[edit]

Hello Josaphat Tjiho, thank you for your submission of a grant application for Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom Namibia Edition. After initial review of your application, we have decided to send it back to you for review.

  • Per the Rapid Fund eligibility criteria, applicants must have current contribution history and experience on the target Wikimedia project(s) mentioned in your grant application. Your username does not show any editing contributions to any Wikimedia projects. There is also no other experienced Wikimedian in the team.
Given the project scope, described impact, and geographical coverage, we are allowing you to review the proposal. Our request is to include a Wikimedian in the team who will have a current active contribution history on wiki and will co-lead and support you in implementing the project. We will not be able to move forward with the review process if this request is not addressed.

Please address our request by editing your response to question 8 on Fluxx and re-submitting the proposal by 16 June 2024. On behalf of Middle East and Africa regional funds team, –DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:58, 10 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Partially funded[edit]

Hello @Josaphat Tjiho, thanks again for submitting this Rapid Fund request. We reviewed the proposal and made a decision to partially fund this grant request in the amount of 3,000 USD (54,000 NAD).

  • We appreciate the comprehensive grant proposal and project plan. We value that this project is organized by a certified trainer for the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom.
  • We made an exception this time and approved this grant for a user who does not have any active contribution history on Wikimedia projects. We made this exception based on a few factors:
    • The project focus is related to the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom and the main applicant is a certified trainer for this project.
    • There is an experienced contributor from the Namibia Wikimedians group who will be supporting the project.
    • There aren't many active contributors and ongoing grant projects from Namibia.
However, please note that we will not be able to make this exception in the future. Per the Rapid Fund eligibility criteria, applicants must have current contribution history and experience on the target Wikimedia project(s) mentioned on the grant application.
  • We made a partial funding decision and we recommend a reduced scope and lowered costs for this project.
    • The facilitation expenses seem high and must be aligned with the average remuneration rates in Namibia. Remuneration should not include activities that are usually done by volunteers, including proposal and report writing, and training. It also should not include any paid editing on Wikimedia projects. Paying to make edits on Wikimedia projects is not permitted through Wikimedia Foundation Funds.
