From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

My Opinion[edit]

From my point of view, I think this proposal is something that Fulfulde Wikipedia need the most all this time and not just this community, similar small Wikipedia communities like Fulfulde Wikipedia should have to be encourage to develop something like this because it is without a doubt that this project will bring a positive outcome and will be a huge success. Support from Awwerl (talk) 23:43, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[edit]

Carrying out this project alone is a huge success because I can see the strong impacts in the stated activities. It will reflects the community's capacity in leveraging its activities toward achieving the targeted goals. More particularly, I'm enthralled by the learning's and activities sections of the proposal and I think, it is a symbol of good beginning that this project was design to make positive impact and that it will be a successful one. Endorsement from Ahmerd Adam (talk) 14:03, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[edit]

I would like to suggest adjustment/extension of the completion date of this project to make it last longer because it can help in achieving more significant impact. I will also love to make an opinion that the community should adopt this thematic weeks as a form of continuous activity which will be conducted from time to time for it has a very reflective strategy that can help boost the growth of smaller Wiki communities like this one. Feedback from MEA regional funds review team[edit]

Hi Musaddam Idriss and Ibrahim442, thank you for submitting your grant application. After reviewing your grant proposal, we have some questions and requests regarding the project and planned activities.

  • Would you please explain the need for the following expenses in your budget?
    • Operation charges
    • Accommodation and transportation cost for the 2 invited facilitators to help the organizers in training of the participants - why is accommodation needed for trainers if this is for your local community?
  • Given the limitations of funding and the frequency of activities, we recommend that you organize 2 in-person gatherings per month, covering 3 months of activities. If this is what you also planned, please update the grant end date on Fluxx. The project duration should include all days when you plan an activity.
  • Fulfulde Wikimedians Community User Group is not a recognized Wikimedia affiliate which should be clear on your Meta-Wiki page, social media, and/or Fluxx Grantee Portal. We request that the group designation is updated and corrected on the relevant Meta-Wiki pages, Fluxx Grantee Portal, and other public-facing pages or materials. Even if the group title mentions that you are a "Wikimedians community", you cannot use Wikimedia logos or marks to reference your own organization/group if this hasn't been explicitly approved by the Affiliation Committee.
We will not move forward with any future grant requests if the group designation is not clarified on relevant pages. You can reach out to the Affiliation Committee if further guidance is needed regarding the recognition and existence of Wikimedia movement affiliates. Please confirm that you read and acknowledged this request.

Please add your responses on this page and make the project end date update on the Fluxx Grantee portal by January 8, 2022. On behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds review team. DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:33, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sir,
Thank you for your review and feedback. Here are the responses to the above questions and requests with regards to the planned activities;
  • Operation charges in this context as placed in the application simply means the minimum amount required to be deposited during opening of the dedicated account for the user group as per a condition/requirement of the bank. This amount is also what will help keep the account active in case no transaction take place within it over some certain period of time.
  • As for the accommodation and transportation cost for the facilitators these are not meant for the facilitators related to the event from within our community, it is meant to be used in receiving other experienced organizers from other User Groups who would join the experienced editors of our community and help them in executing the project. The reason for this is that as a small community which is just growing, we have the believe that finding ways to get close to other larger communities that are more versatile than ours will help us in getting quicker and faster development and will also help us in learning how to strengthen our community and will also build a rapport/friendly relationship between us and those communities.
  • Yes, that is what we plan to do (to organize 2 in-person gatherings per month) and we will update this in the Fluxx as requested.
  • We have updated the group information on Meta and other related social media pages, stating clearly that our group is not yet recognized. However, the logo which was seen on the Meta page was actually made to be placed there following a request by the Manavpreet Kaur of the Affiliations Committee as part of the things we are expected to work on to satisfy AffComs criteria for recognition.
  • The group designation is clarified on all the pages related to the organization, on meta the information on designation can be find at the group main page under Contact persons section and also on the Members' tab.
Thank you so much for your time and support. We will be glad to receive any more feedback/request for more clarifications regarding our responses.
Best regards Musaddam Idriss (talk) 17:31, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Extension[edit]

Dear Sir, DSaroyan (WMF)

We would like to request for an extension of the end date of this project due to the following reasons:

  • Bank process of opening the group's account and processing of the transferred funds has delayed the receiving of the funds on time. We received the funds on 17th February which is over two weeks from the project start date.
  • There will be ongoing general election in Nigeria which means work places would be closed and many among the targeted participants would have returned to their various places of origin to cast their votes and again this may affect the overall participation and engagement of the participants.

We therefore, request the extension of the project period (end date) to 25 May, 2023. Thank you for your kind understanding and support. Best regards, Musaddam Idriss (talk) 11:41, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Musaddam Idriss, thanks for posting your request. I have reviewed and formally approved it. The new grant end date is 25 May 2023, and the final report is due on 25 June 2023. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 07:18, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
