Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)[edit]

Hello BrokenSegue, and thanks for your proposal to improve the Wwwyzzerdd browser add-on. I'm Chris, a program officer at the Foundation, and I'll be reviewing your proposal. Thanks very much for providing helpful context around this tool, how it used, and for your outreach to collect feedback from those regularly using Wwwyzzerdd. Here are my questions and comments:

  • Will the code developed for this proposal be made public and published under free software license? Currently, I see there is a GitHub repository where the code is published under a GPL-3.0 license.
  • Other than yourself, does the project have other maintainers or planners?
  • What kind of documentation will you be preparing related to the tool as a part of this project?
  • After the proposed funding period is over, what resources or funding do you expect will be needed to continue maintain Wwwyzzerdd?

When you're able, please respond to my questions and comments above. With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 23:28, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@BrokenSegue: Apologies, I had forgotten we had disucssed some of these questions over e-mail, so I've struck them above. Just need your attention on the last one. Thanks! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 23:44, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
@I JethroBT (WMF): Thanks for the questions. The tool should not need ongoing maintenance once it is updated a part of this project. The need for this grant is mainly caused by the conversion to Manifest v3 due to Google. I do not anticipate needing further funding for Wwwyzzerdd outside of this grant unless substantially new functionality is to be added. It should continue to be effective in its current state indefinitely after this work. BrokenSegue 00:17, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
