Grants talk:Project/Rapid/DrMel/wikiBlind outreach at NFB
Add topicCome see what we are doing on Facebook
[edit]Because we are recruiting new volunteers, almost all of our activities for wikiBlind have been happening in our Facebook book and training cohort 1. If you are reviewing this grant, informally or formally, it will make much more sense if you come join the group and see what we’ve been posting there. One of the great ironies is that Facebook won’t let me change the group membership status from Closed to Open for another 2 weeks. A group aiming for radical inclusivity. I’ve emailed our request to be an open group to Facebook support but have not yet heard anything back. So as soon as that hold is off, group membership on wikiBlind on Facebook will be open to all. As it should always be. DrMel (talk) 18:01, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
Organizers
[edit]The project identifies user:DrMel and Courtney Mazzola as organizers. I see a profile on English Wikipedia for en:User:DrMel.
Can Courtney either create a Wikimedia account with a short profile, or can you put a biographic sketch of this person in this proposal? 3-5 sentences is fine. Say something about interest in sharing free and open media. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:45, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Bluerasberry: I've added a link to her enwiki user page. Graham87 (talk) 14:55, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
Grant Request Approved
[edit]Hello, user:DrMel and user:CaliLive; thank you both for submitting this grant request and for your work in bringing the discussion of the rights of people with blindness and low vision to the Wiki movement. We are approving your grant request and hope that, beyond the report you'll submit for this grant request, you will be able to socialize some of your insights on the conference with other Wiki community members, and that you'll get many NFB members interested in the movement. Thanks for all your work, MMontes (WMF) (talk) 13:05, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thank YOU! This is a huge milestone step forward in so many ways. Please help us connect with whomever you'd like to see us connected with! DrMel (talk) 14:26, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
