Hello Chukydyk, thanks for submitting this Rapid Grant request. I have reviewed it and have the following questions and comments:

  • You mentioned that you and User:Candy_Khohliwe have experience in working with Wikipedia. However, the number of edits you have made on Wikipedia is only 9 and Candy has made 85 edits (half of the edits are not related to mainspace pages). We will not be able to move forward with this current proposal until we are not sure that you have more experienced team members who will be supporting you during your event. Please look for experienced editors from your community who are ready to support you and add their usernames under question #3.
  • Are you requesting this grant on behalf of any Wikimedia affiliate?
  • What kind of photos are you planning to upload to Wikimedia Commons? Could you please add a target for the number of uploaded images?
  • You mentioned that you would “Contribute to the community during the Yuletide”. How are you planning to do this?
  • When letting the community know about this project, you are requested to reach out to them on wiki pages too. Please confirm that you will reach out to potential participants on your community pages of Wikipedia and Meta-Wiki.

Hello DSaroyan (WMF) (talk),

I hope this response meet you well. Below is my reply to your questions;

  • I have added more Team members from my Community who are experienced in Wikipedia and Wikimedia Projects. In addition to that, I and Candy Khohliwe has successfully organized and run Wikipedia projects on and offline which we achieved desired results. I can assure you I and my team members has what it takes to run this project successfully.
  • No, It is an Individual grant
  • This is a Training/Editathon. Hence, how to upload pictures to Wikicommons will be taught to new Wikipedians and old Wikipedians will upload pictures which are related to their articles if it’s needed.
  • We will work mostly on improving articles and stubs that were created in the month of December. Also we’ll discuss the areas of improvement they (participants) would want to see on Wikipedia and take it up to the Nigeria Wikipedia Community, for appropriate consideration.
