Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello, Ederporto and affiliates of the Wiki Movimento Brazil; thank you for submitting this grant proposal. This year, we have received several requests, some from new countries, and we decided that it is better to distribute the WLM budget among all organizers rather than pick only some contests and not fund others. This means that we are trying to get all grant requests under 1000 USD.

Looking at your budget, here are my suggestions:

- To change the prizes. 300 for first, 150 for second, 100 for third; no T-shirts, certificates or delivery. (Or 200 for first if you really, really want to print certificates and deliver them). Bear in mind that cash prizes are not allowed; you can give gift certificates/vouchers for certain stores, for example. - For the editathon, WMF could cover the renting of the space + the catering. If you find a free venue, we could consider funding some of the other expenses instead.

We would also appreciate some more details on the ways that you plan to promote the contest; we think maybe creating a list of photo clubs in Brazil and sending information about the contest could be a good idea.

Hey MMontes (WMF), thanks for the response. Most of the people responsible are still traveling for Wikimania, so we apologize for the added delay. I will detail the changes this afternoon, we will adopt your suggestions and attempt to find alternative funding for a few items.
About the promotion, for the web strategy beyond the banner, we are attempting to secure a Google ad grant to be used for the contest. We will also contact universities directly and prepare a press release to be sent out to newspapers.
I am not aware of photo clubs that we could contact in Brazil, but would love help to find and contact them.

Hi MMontes (WMF)! I just updated the budget table with your suggestions for the prizes with the current currency. We'll work on a partnership with a university or a similar institution for the edit-a-thon activity so that won't be necessary to include a rent expense and it was possible to keep the other outreach expenses. Now the budget is a bit under 1,000 USD! Best, EricaAzzellini (talk) 20:47, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
