Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Expanding medical student editing Wikipedia electives into Sackler School of Medicine

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi AminMDMA and Esh77. Thank you for your patience as we reviewed this request. We are excited to see how expanding the medical student Wikipedia editing model from UCSF can be applied at the Sackler School of Medicine. We hope Amin's presentation can inspire students and be a good way to share lessons learned. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 19:49, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much, Alex! That is great news. I'm sure Amin's presence at Sackler next week will make a difference in inspiring our students and we are happy to have the WMF supporting our efforts. One clarification, though -- while we are building on Amin's experience at UCSF, and my own experience teaching a Wiki-Med elective course to the Israeli Med students at Sackler, in this course we are developing a completely new elective model that hasn't been tried anywhere in the world. This will be a year-and-a-half-long elective, and will also direct students at research related to their wiki contributions. We have great collaborators and are hopeful it will be a fruitful endeavor, one that will also help us expand our understanding of teaching Wikipedia to Medical students. Thanks again for your support, Shani Evenstein. 20:08, 1 September 2017 (UTC).[reply]
