Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Global Open Initiative/Time project for Twi Community

Comments from WMF[edit]

Hello Global Open Initiative, thanks for submitting this grant request and for planning this contest! I have reviewed the proposal and have a few questions and requests:

  • Given the scope of your project, we think that the budget for prizes is high. Please reduce it to 500 USD as a maximum. It would also be great to reduce the number of individual prizes, having maximum 5 prizes.
  • We now require all grantees to announce their projects and receive the Wikimedia community feedback in advance. Could you please announce this project and grant on the relevant community channels you mentioned in the proposal (Wikimedia Ghana User Group and Wikimedians of Africa mailing lists)? Please paste a link into the proposal page to where the relevant communities have been notified of this proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
  • Do you have any Twi speakers in the organizing team of this contest? Additionally, could you please confirm that you will be reaching out to Twi speakers? Will they be native speakers?

Response to comment from WMF[edit]

Hi @DSaroyan (WMF):

  • I have edited the award table and made the necessary corrections.
  • I have also announced the project on the listed mailing list, however I have no idea as to how to copy and paste the link of the email on the proposal page. On the other hand I have pasted a link to the post I made on English Wikipedia village pump.
  • Concerning the organizing team, yes, we have native speakers which include Naa2Darkoa, Jemima2019, Amoaniwaa and Valentine Badu. We have had an initial meeting(here is a link) with lecturers, students and Teaching assistants at the Twi Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, so we intend to use this project to engage them further.

@DSaroyan (WMF): I have included the link to the email sent by Harriet to the African mailing list in the grant page. But the email I sent to the Wikimedia Ghana mailing list is still waiting approval. I will include it as soon as the moderator approves the email.
