From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Comments from DSaroyan (WMF)[edit]

Hi JosefAnthony, thank you for submitting your grant application. After reviewing your grant proposal, we have some questions to learn more about the project and planned activities.

  • Could you please provide more details on what exactly you will do to reach the project goals mentioned on the proposal?
  • How will you ensure that participants edit after these activities?
  • Have you organized any similar activities at these institutions? Are you aware of any other Wikimedia activities organized there?
  • Aside from posting on the Hausa Wikimedians User Group, have you discussed and coordinated this project with other community members?
  • Do you have any plans to collaborate with Hausa Wikimedians User Group in terms of this project?
  • Could you please provide more details about the need for traveling with three facilitators? What are their roles? Why is it important to have them all during these activities?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 14:12, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF) below are answers to the above questions.

They major goal is to introduce the wikimedia movement/wikidata to both institutions, expecting 30 participants from each school with a plan of creating or improving at least 150 items of which each participants will be creating/improving at least 3 items.

  • Firstly, there will be a promotional campaign about the event with the association members where we discuss about the event and wiki movements(how to be a part) and encourage every member to be a part.

Secondly, there will be a 2day workshop training where participants will be trained on how to make edits on wikidata and ensure participants are well trained.

Thirdly, Participants will be engaged with wiki related activities in the social media platform (WhatsApp and Telegram) organizers are active on and also the group created for the cause of the project.

  • Each participants will be assigned at list 3 item to work on during the workshop and guided by facilitators. And participants will also be engaged and mentored via the social media group that will be created.
  • From my findings no Wikimedia activities has been organized at the institutions that am aware of, as this will serve as an introduction of wikimedia to most of the students/participants…of which they are excited and looking forward to it.
  • Yes I have, project has been discussed and coordinated with some of the community members.
  • Yes, plans have been set aside to collaborate with the Hausa user community, as the new participants will also join and be a part of the Hausa community user group.
  • They three facilitators will be coming from different states.
