Hello Jamie Tubers, Thank you for putting this report together. It was wonderful to see you that you exceeded your targets despite a last minute date shift! I am including a couple of follow up questions for you to consider:

  1. Your participant outcome was incredible! How was your marketing for this event different than in the past? What do you think contributed to this increased participation?
  2. In what ways do you plan to increase the diversity in the type of images captured?

  1. I believe the utilization of both online and grassroots marketing strategies helped a lot. Weeks before the contest, the group consistently shared information on social media, in anticipation for the contest. The reach of this social media marketing led to a few Nigerian media houses covering the contest in their news updates, without any influence from us. There was also a big grassroot marketing. Marketing flyers were placed in almost all the major stops within the focus city (Ilorin). I believe all of these contributed to huge participation and results.
  2. To increase diversity, what is currently being looked at, is to have a discussion before the start of subsequent contests; this discussion will aim at making reasonable assumptions on the areas that we feel people would find easier to cover for the contest. After making the assumptions, our photowalks will focus on covering alternative and less-accessible content areas. We can also offer prizes for participants who cover these alternative areas. This is still being planned and is of course always subject to change.
