Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Reda Benkhadra/Innovate in Free Knowledge

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

General Feedback[edit]

This is an interesting grant request. The plan outlined to conduct a baseline study for a representation of the situation of Free Knowledge in the MEA region, is absolutely crucial for the next plans that will be made in this region by both individual contributors and organized groups. Feedback For Improvement[edit]

Here are a few things to consider for updating this proposal

  • Implementation timelines; With reference to the methodology outlined, will the three months stated be enough to accomplish what needs to be done on this project? The State of the Free Knowledge is not an easy topic to wrangle with. It will have to be done at different levels such as communities, content, participation and enthusiasm of contributors, policies that have an effect on the existing efforts.
  • Report publication channels; The application mentions that the report will be published on Meta, how do you plan to follow up and ensure that the highly oral societies targeted receive the results of this project?
  • Application Details; It would be great to have additional narratives for both Challenge 2 "Endangered knowledge systems in the region”, and Opportunity 3 "Desire to enhance current tools and platforms”.

Hello dear @YPam (WMF): As requested, I have updated the proposal to include the comments above. As for the duration of the study, the suggested timeline takes into consideration a careful balance between the budget and working time to execute such project. In case more working time will be needed to have further research and/or interaction with the communities, it will be conducted voluntarily. Reda benkhadra (talk) 11:01, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
