Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Scanner for Gujarati Wikimedia Projects/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Report accepted[edit]

Hi, Gazal world, thank you for submitting this final report and your expense documentation. I have reviewed both and am happy to accept them. Please note that this grant will not be complete until you decide what you would like to do with the underspend (see my note at the end).

Congratulations on such a successful grant! From your report it sounds like the scanner made a huge difference in Gujarati Wikimedia projects. I'm happy you were able to begin discussions with Gujarati Vishwakosh Trust and receive some free encyclopedia volumes from them. It sounds like you might be able to continue growing your relationship with them, so please let us know how that goes.

Well done on meeting all your goals for book digitization! It is exciting to hear that you were able to share your experiences at TWLCon (2019 India) and inspire other Indic-language Wikipedias to start a common Resource Exchange project. Please let us know how it goes!

In regards to the remaining funds of 3,501 INR, you have several options:

  • You can request that those funds be allocated towards a new grant agreement. If you would like to do this, please submit a new rapid grant request by 28 February 2019.
  • You can request that the funds be used for mission-aligned activities.
  • You can return the funds to WMF, following these instructions. However, given the low amount of funds remaining and the transfer fees charged it would probably be best to find a way to reuse them, rather than returning them.

Once you decide what to do with the remaining funds, please update this report and email rapidgrants[at]wikimedia.org. Woubzena or another program officer will then need to approve the request (or new grant application) before you can use the funds.

Thank you for all your hard work on this grant and your engagement throughout the reporting process. We appreciate you sharing your outcomes with WMF and the community, and look forward to hearing how your work evolves.

@LSmith (WMF): Thank you for accepting the report. I will soon update you on progress on Meetup plans or any other mission aligned activity we do from remaining funds. We are in talks with Gujarat Vishwakosh Trust for collaboration for meetup so it may take some time. -Gazal world (talk) 06:05, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@LSmith (WMF): We are glad to inform you that Gujarat Vishwakosh Trust has established their official account commons:User:Gujarat Vishw Kosh Trust for donating content. The account is now OTRS approved and they have already donated few photos (commons:Category:Files by Gujarat Vishw Kosh Trust). They have agreed to donate images and other content via the account in future. We are also happy to inform you that they have agreed to lend their auditorium for free for the first Gujarati Wikisource Workshop (gu:s:વિકિસ્રોત:Meetup/અમદાવાદ-૧) on 23-24 February 2019 where Gujarati Wikimedians will also meet in the sidelines. -Nizil Shah (talk) 11:03, 13 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
