Grants talk:Project/Rapid/TonyTheTiger/McDonald's All-American Boys Game/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

I would like to request comments or advice from User:I JethroBT (WMF) and User:Bluerasberry regarding the direction that this report is heading in. If either of you would like to give me advice by phone, I am open to that as well.--TonyTheTiger (talk) 04:32, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TonyTheTiger: Hey Tony, just some brief comments on the report so far:
  • The comparison photos are really useful to have in the report. There is definitely a considerable increase in quality in terms of sharpness and lighting that comes out with the equipment you were able to use for this event. I'd recommend putting some side-by-side images directly in the report to make this comparison easier to see. The photos can be bigger than using the standard [[thumb]] syntax in order to see some of this detail if needed. Also, this is just a really awesome photo that ought to be prominent on this report. :)
  • Thanks for providing some links to where your photos have been used already on article content. I'm definitely interested in seeing more articles that can be immediately improved using your photos. I know you're still working on the draft, but be sure to include those numbers when you are able.
  • I saw the overspend on your grant, so I'll check things out to see how this situation is handled.
I'll provide more feedback later, but so far, so good. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:37, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Report accepted[edit]

Hi TonyTheTiger. Thank you for this grant report and all your efforts to add high quality photos to Commons! It's great to see the difference having even higher quality equipment made. It would be helpful in future to have a category related to all of these photos so their use on the Wikimedia projects can be tracked (through the glamorous tool). Please use the remaining funds to cover the wire transfer fees. Unfortunately we are unable to send additional funds. Best, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 18:00, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • AWang (WMF), Please note that JuTa sabotaged the evidence I submitted a bit by reverting the cropping that I did to the main image that I presented for your consideration. I have no reason why the uncropped version was restored. I replied to your email before seeing this comment.--TonyTheTiger (talk) 23:20, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thats because you created duplicate images, you loaded the cropped version (which is already existend under a different name) over an uncropped one. I reverdted those uploads with a note where to find the cropped version. I work from time to time on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:ListDuplicatedFiles (from bottom to top), I will redo it next time I stumble over your duplicates. regards --JuTa (talk) 07:34, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK; I'll try to keep it in mind for the next time. --JuTa (talk) 14:11, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
