Comments from DSaroyan (WMF)[edit]

Hello Umar a usman, thanks for submitting this grant request. We have reviewed it and we have some questions:

  • Please provide more details about the promotional activities. What will these activities include? How do you plan to promote Wikipedia in the referred women groups?
  • Do you have any women in the team? How will you make sure to offer female participants to lead some of the activities? We won't be able to move forward with the project if there are no women participants involved in the organizing team.
  • How will you ensure leadership development, so that next similar events are led by women entirely?
  • It seems that your plan is to run a training/editathon after the promotional activities. Could you please confirm this?
  • You mentioned some covered topics but will you be offering any list of suggested articles to edit? Who will develop this list? Again, are there any women involved in the preparation activities?
  • How will you track participants' contributions?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:37, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF), Thanks for your question, here are my answers.
  • I confirm the participation of 3 women groups, 1. Jam'iyyar Matan Arewa, 2. Bas Global Foundation, 3. Matan Kungiyar Gobe da Labari. We will visit these groups together with three women and two experience editors from Hausa Wikimedians User Group for 3 different days and introduce the groups on Wikipedia and share with them pamphlets with important information on editing Wikipedia and also give them invitation to the training workshop which will take place after the visitations.
  • Yes I have these women editors who will help me in leading the events User:Bikhrah, User:Jidda3711 and User:Saudarh2 they are members of one of the groups, they would help me in presenting Wikipedia volunteering to the women.
  • Yes, the women I will work together with are now editors and I will make sure to tell them to create a group for women editors that will be lead by them so that they continue working together and be helping themselves.
  • Yes, after the visitation of the women groups, I will organise a training workshops only, not editathon because the participants are new users so they will only be shown basic editing, and how to create and improve articles. But we will aslo improve category list of stub pages.
  • The women I'm working with are the ones I list above, they will help in leading the project
  • I will use outreach dashboard to track the edits.
