We are ready for questions concerning the grant.--Kwameghana (talk) 07:09, 1 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Status?[edit]

@MJue (WMF) and AWang (WMF): Just want to check this is on the radar. It sounds to me the submittors are ready for review, but the grant has not seen much activity in that field. Perhaps some technicality is missing? Given the timeline (competition is about to start), your attention is appreciated! Effeietsanders (talk) 20:35, 26 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@I JethroBT (WMF): Also pinging you here, as I don't see any response and I saw you making edits :P. I thought the expected timeline was around a week :) Effeietsanders (talk) 11:11, 30 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

My team and I are ready. We just need information on what is going on. Thank you.--Bright Kwame Ayisi (talk) 13:31, 30 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Effeietsanders and Kwameghana: Apologies for the delay. We are still running on limited capacity and have not been especially responsive to open requests as of late, as you can see :/. We'll plan to review more closely and come to a funding decision in the coming weeks, which does not offer much relief or even a definitive timeline, but I wanted to acknowledge that I've seen your pings. Thanks for your diligence thus far. -- Morgan Jue (WMF) (talk) 22:06, 30 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

WMF Comments[edit]

Hello Kwameghana. Thank you for submitting this proposal and for your patience with the delayed review process. It sounds like you have well organized trips planned, and it is wonderful to hear that you will be engaging new photographers in your group. My only concern with the proposal is that the budget is high relative to the number of images you hope to collect on these photography trips. We do think it will be valuable for your group to create articles for monuments that do not have them, and to make improvements to existing articles. Would you please update your goals to include the creation of new content to use the photos, and tell us when you expect to complete the project of creating and improving the articles. Finally, as your group is traveling to different regions, you might use this opportunity to start lists of articles that need to be written about the towns you visit. You might also consider working with local museums, NGOs or schools in the areas you visit to do informative sessions to tell people about what Wikipedia is and how they can access and use it. Once you have updated the goals section of the request, we can move forward with a funding decision. --KHarold (WMF) (talk) 05:43, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Well noted. --Bright Kwame Ayisi (talk) 06:02, 31 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your message. Updating the period in which we wish to complete the creation of new articles, improving existing ones and when we wish to complete will be discussed with the group and done immediately.

We wish to travel on a weekend for our photo expedition so organising a talk in schools to project the image of Wikimedia will be quiet a challenge and besides the schools in Ghana are on vacation. With the local museums, it will require us going through a long protocol delay as its known with government institutions in this country but we will try and see it if can make a headway when we visit.

Creating articles on towns we will visit would not be a problem.

Thank

updating of goal section[edit]

Hello KHarold (WMF), I have updated the goal section on grant proposal page as requested by you. Thank you. --Bright Kwame Ayisi (talk) 06:31, 4 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Bright Kwame Ayisi. Thank you for updating your goals. In order to better understand if you are meeting your goals, it will be helpful to gather statistics about how many monuments do not have articles or have articles but no photos and to set some targets around each of those. Also, here are some great resources about organizing a successful photo contest including tips for photographing buildings! We look forward to hearing how the contest goes.
