Report accepted[edit]

Hello BrendaPadilla3, thank you for submitting this comprehensive final report!

  • It was great to learn about the successful partnerships that you established throughout the events. Additionally, I am really excited about the impactful outcomes that your project brought to the Wikimedia Movement.
  • Thanks for sharing blogposts, slides, recordings, and other additional materials from your project.
  • I liked the way you worked with experience and new contributors, and also the way you arranged the working space. I am also delighted that participants received book donations from a group.
  • I learnt from your report that you would like to work towards opening a new Wikipedia for the Zapotec language. Do you have any progress that you can share with us? Were you able to translate the language request guidebook?
  • I am sorry to learn that you had to put your personal funds to cover the additional costs. In the future, please let us know about similar situations before the completion of your project, so that we can cover the extra expenses as well. You just need to post a request about the additional expenses on the discussion page of your proposal and let us know over email.

Thanks again for an outstanding project and valuable contributions! I have reviewed and accepted your final report and expense documents. This grant is now complete! I’ll be looking forward to your new projects! Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:29, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you![edit]

Hi, DSaroyan (WMF)!

Thank you for your comments. :) About Wikipedia in Zapotec, we want to do this, but we (the organisers) haven't moved forward on this topic. Life became crazy with the COVID19 pandemic. It is still ongoing and exacerbated by our context. Considering the considerable time and effort required to make Wikipedia in Zapotec happen, I am afraid this topic is on hold until further notice.

About covering some expenses, that's ok. Every time I get funding for an event, I am very money aware. When I travelled to ULSA in Oaxaca, I kept worrying about the cost of things. Is this restaurant too expensive? Should I walk some more and try to find a cheaper one? Is it be ok if I order a dessert? Is it too much if I have two glasses of juice? Once I paid for one of the organiser's meals. I didn't submit that invoice. I wasn't sure if that was covered (because that meal wasn't officially part of the specific events of the editathon), and I didn't want to abuse Wikipedia's generosity. At the end, I decided to eat wherever was convenient, whatever I craved, and cover the difference. I felt I had been blessed enough with the budget increase I got. I am really grateful for it!
