Hello CaliBen, thanks for submitting this grant request to run the project in Arusha. We have reviewed it and we have a few requests and questions about the budget.

  • Please remove graphic design expenses from your budget and reuse materials prepared by the international organizers of Afrocine contest.
  • I request to offer either food or coffee break during the event because the total food/snacks budget seems too high.
  • How much will you offer to each participant for transportation? Since the event will be only for Wikimedians from Arusha, could you please explain why the transportation budget is high?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 12:30, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thanks for reviewing the grant request. Below are my responses to the requests and questions you have asked:
  • The graphic design expalined in the grant proposal includes localized posters which do have details of the venue, date and time of the local events. Removing the expenses might mean that the participants might just get a message which might not be as effective as having a poster with more speficic details.
  • The events will start from 8 A.M to 3 P.M Thats why I have included both food and coffee. Removing either of the budget means that I will have to host shorter events, so as the participants don't starve.
  • The transport budget includes the transport budget for organizers before and after the events this is to ensure that the everything goes well and it icludes the constant transport budget for each participant. I am offering a constant transport amount to every participant as it has happened before that participants do lie about their transport fare just to get a higher amount. This could be controlled if only we had bus tickets but that is not existent norm for the local transport. Every participant gets US $ 6.47501 * 30 = 194.2503 and the rest ($) goes to the organizers US $ 63.7297.
If any of the responses doesn't make any sense, I am open to any further question and requests regarding the proposal. Best regards, --CaliBen (talk) 13:06, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
