Question from WMF[edit]

Hi, Wikimedia Ghana User Group and SandisterTei, thank you for submitting this report! I see that you have some remaining funds. Could you please edit the remaining funds section to indicate what you would like to do with those funds? Many thanks! LSmith (WMF) (talk) 21:37, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Report accepted[edit]

Hi, Wikimedia Ghana User Group and SandisterTei! I have reviewed and accepted both your expense documentation and final report. Congratulations on completing this grant! It was so fun to see the photos you submitted and it looks like you are getting close to your signature goal for your FOP petition!

Thank you for submitting such a detailed and thoughtful report. It is clear that participating in re:publica Accra was an incredible learning experience for the group. Here are some things from your report that stood out to me:

  • It sounds like there were some miscommunications or misunderstandings between your group and the organizers, which resulted in you having to settle for a presentation rather than a workshop. That type of situation can be so disappointing, and I'm sorry you had to go through it. While it's not always possible to avoid situations like this, what steps would you take in the future to reduce the chance of a similar situation?
  • Building a corps of dedicated volunteers is an important step in the growth of any organization, and it's exciting to see that the group has reached this stage! Like you said, making sure that those volunteers are professional, trained, and on message is a big task. With an event coming up soon, have you thought more about how you're going to approach this?
  • The policies and structure you're putting in place around events sounds like it will help keep you focused. When you think about participating in future conferences, what types of activities would be best for a booth vs. a presentation/workshop?

Thank you for all the hard work you've put into this grant, and for sharing what you learned with WMF and the community. We welcome anything else you'd like to share!

Warmly, LSmith (WMF) (talk) 22:04, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
