Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Wikimedians of Cameroon User Group/Wiki Loves Africa 2017 in Cameroon/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hello Geugeor thank you for submitting your Wiki Loves Africa 2017 in Cameroon report. It was great to see all the press the competition received as well as the photos you've uploaded. Here are some follow up comments and questions:

  • Great job almost doubling the number of participants expected. Are you able to identify which media outlets helped the increase? Or will you be able to use all of them again for future contests?
  • Is it possible to partner with an institute that has a stable internet connection to improve photo uploads in the future or is this a country-wide problem that can't be resolved?
  • How will you manage the budget next time to ensure that you won't go over the grant amount? What was the unexpected cost?
  • Do you have a plan in place to increase the use of photos in Wikipedia articles?

Thanks again for putting together a great project and final report. I am accepting your report and expense documentation. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 02:19, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WJifar (WMF) (talk)
Answers to your questions :
  1. The media played their role and it is difficult for us to say which media helped us. We will continue to work with them because we still need more visibility on our activities. If possible we could increase by varying the different types of media.
  2. Access to a good connection in Cameroon is a problem; our challenge is to build a partnership like the one with the Goethe Institute (One meeting per month). We will search
  3. I will try to manage the budget next time
  4. Currently no. Because the theme of the contest does not make it too easy for us.
