Midpoint Report accepted[edit]

Dear Jayzlimno and JoGDelta,

Thank you for submitting this Midpoint Report! I am approving it now with the following comments:

  • It's really exciting to hear about the high quality of the articles that are being published. I'd love to learn more about your process of setting up a strong review process that supports students and instructors in generating high quality work. I am curious what you learned about recruiting reviewers and incentivized their participation. I know you said in your proposal that volunteer peer-review is part of the field and that you intended to use your recruitment videos to explain the importance of offering this service on Wikipedia. Anything you've discovered along the way about recruitment of reviewers or how the content review process works that you think it would be worthwhile to share with other people organizing WikiEdu projects? If so, this might be something you could consider writing up in a Learning Pattern for your Final Report, especially as you iterate on and fine tune your plan for content review for the next round in the Spring semester.
  • Great to see that your metrics appear to be generally on track with respect to your proposal's goals, with nearly half your target numbers for classrooms and improved articles. Awesome that were 11 new articles, too! I'm looking forward to hearing how things go with your second run in the Spring semester.
  • Thanks for sharing the links to the journal articles where you shared about this project. I don't know what the precise subject matter of the articles were since I don't have access to them, but know that if you should publish articles specifically addressing the work paid for by this project, we can cover open access fees. In the spirit of free knowledge, we love to bring articles out from behind paywalls, and we can add additional funds to your award to cover fees when needed. If that is still relevant to the articles you have linked, let me know.
  • I'm so glad to hear that educators reported a positive experience and willingness to use Wikipedia-based assignments again in future. That's an awesome outcome.

Thanks so much for your work on this project! I look forward to hearing more as it continues!
