Hello Olaniyan Olushola thank you for taking the time to respond to Mjohnson (WMF)'s questions regarding attending #WikiGap Event in partnership with Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Abuja. While I'm approving your grant request I would like you to consider a few thoughts that have come up regarding this request.

  1. As Marti mentioned in her email to you please make sure in the future to allow enough time for us to review your request. It's hard for us to be responsive and more importantly assess the request in depth when we're not given enough time for review.
Noted. and thank you for your understanding.
  1. I recognize that building this new partnership with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs makes it pertinent for you to attend this event as a prominent member of User Group Nigeria and travel from Lagos to Abuja. However, in the future it will be more sustainable and significant to the User Group as you grow and develop to have local representatives who can run the event in Abuja.
Yes, as mentioned in my response to Marti. We have Wikimedia Hub in Abuja, where the embassy was situated. The group comprises of many very vibrant volunteers. However, as the lead, Wikimedia UG Nigeria. My presence will be very strategic to this meeting . Meanwhile, it is also an avenue for me to initiate talk with University of Abuja for the establishment of Wikimedia Fan Club at the institution.
  1. Lastly, I understand there has been an effort in a couple of grants from the User Group to encourage women in Nigeria to edit and create content. It would also be wonderful to see these events organized and led by them. It might add to your efforts in increasing women contributors to wikipedia. Can you elaborate further the role The Girl Lead Hub and Nigerian Women Trust Fund will be playing in this partnership?
As part of the event, the embassy and our team agreed to invite some organisations which focus on women related activities to participate at the event as content partner. Hence, their involvement. Olaniyan Olushola (talk) 01:01, 7 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please let me know if you have any further questions and comments. Best regards, WJifar (WMF) (talk) 00:28, 7 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
