[edit]Hi @AWang (WMF): if Cascadia Wikimedia User Group has remaining funds at the end of its year, say hypothetically $1500, I'm wondering about how our case would be handled. For example, if we submit a new PEG request for the next year that would start within about 1 month of the completion of the previous plan, could we retain those funds as a reserve balance that we would count toward our reserve for the following year? I get concerned if a situation arises when the 2015 grant term has expired at the end of December, and if our 2016 plan isn't approved by that time, then it seems like we might be required to return all remaining funds promptly after December and before the 2016 plan has started, which would mean that we might have a zero bank account balance and would cause all kinds of problems like inability to pay our subscription fee for accounting software and other bills. How would bridge funding be handled in that situation? Might we be allowed to effectively extend the time period of the 2015 plan so that we can use reserve funds to pay for expenses until the 2016 plan is approved? - Hi Pine. If you have remaining funds at the end of your grant period, you may retain them for up to a month (sometimes longer depending on the individual situation) and reallocate them to your next grant. You may also extend the end date of your grant if needed to better align with the start date of the next grant. We don't allow grantees to hold on to "reserves" or spend retained funds between grant periods. Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 21:52, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
