Supporting statement

I would like to add a supporting note for this proposal. This tutorial will help to increase the growing cadre of computational biologists who are making edits into Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. This will further help to boost the number of expert editors for Wikimedia projects. Daniel has an excellent track record in outreach having trained large numbers of people in Wikipedia editing over the years. His knowledge is encyclopedic and he appears able to answer any technical question the participants seem to have. He also edits multiple language instances which really helps at international conference such as ISMB as he understands the subtleties of different language editions of Wikipedia. In addition, Daniel was instrumental in setting up the PLoS Computational Biology Topic pages which is another avenue for bringing expert content into Wikipedia. All these aspects make Daniel an exceptionally valuable tutor for this conference tutorial. I hope that his application is looked upon favorably. Alexbateman (talk) 13:46, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Have you yet confirmed that this tutorial will take place and has been put on the conference schedule?
