Funded[edit]

Dear @Ngostary2k:,

Thank you for submitting this grant application. The Wikimedia Usergroup Nigeria community Support Fund Committee has reviewed your application and approved a partial funding of 150,000 NGN. We request that you adjust the following items on the proposal:

  • Reduce the cost of refreshments.
  • Reduce the cost of data reimbursement for each participant
  • Also, flex should be reduced as it doesn't replace the roll-up banners.
  • Lastly, we request that you find a way to incorporate this WikiSource project into the meetup program as we will not be able to support the two projects at the same time.

We look forward to your response to adjust the budget so we can move forward with the proposal and thank you once again for your work within the Wikimedia Movement in Nigeria.

On behalf of the WUGN Community Support Fund Committee. All the best, Ayokanmi (WUGN) (talk) 11:26, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear WUGN Community Support Fund Committee,
Thank you for accepting to fund our activity. We are truly grateful. I will rework the budget as you advised but I want to point out something. I mentioned that we will use the meet-up to practice "Picture upload (Wikicommons)". If you looked at the report of our last activity I sent some days back, you will see that we are very much disadvantaged on uploads and this affected our results. Thus, we agreed to use it to teach the community members how to do uploads in Wikicommons.
But you have just told us to include Wikisource instead. Wikisource is a full-time training with absolute focus and attention. It is technical and requires critical learning. I am afraid, we may not achieve much if we integrate Wikisource in our meet-up with upload. Just look at it from this perspective.... that will be 3 full programs in one? Can you please, allow us to have good program to at least, make it practicable and result oriented?
If it would be too much for WUGN to fund our programs in January, may I suggest that you fund the Wikisource instead and remove the meet-up? Our Network is made up of 90% members who are in the academic environment and the public service. They want to learn and add value to their working environment. Give us Wikisource if we must choose. I believe you have discussed with the member who sent the proposal. We will make do with Wikisource. It is needed more. Thank you. Ngostary2k (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not Funded[edit]

Hello User:Ngostary2k,

Thank you for the response and the suggestions, in view of what you said and our exchange via mail. We will be declining this proposal and be funding the WikiSource project instead; we hope that the program will offer the opportunity also to have your meetup as planned.

Thanks and best regards,

On behalf of the WUGN Community Support Fund Committee Ayokanmi (WUGN) (talk) 14:04, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello Ayokanmi,
Thank you for your mail. Yes, it is better to fund WikikSource project alone than combining it with meetup and practices on WikiCommons. Wikisource needs more time, focus and energy to be effective. We hope to learn better now with WikiSource.
Thank you.
