• [1][2]Milos Rancic pointed people at a proposed policy for when Wikipedias should exist for a language, explicitly disallowing the use of a Wikipedia as a tool to help build a new nation. Discussion on the relationship between language and nations and the Moldovan wikipedia controversy (which this proposal may have been inspired by) followed
• [3]Parker Conrad noted that stats.wikipedia.org used to have growth statistics but is no longer operational, asking where that information could be found. Brion Vibber noted that the pages will be offline until some accidentally included personal info is removed.
• [4]Jacky PB, after coming across a disambiguation page that included near phonetic matches (presumably for poor spellers/illiterates), asked if phonetic searching is a project goal, and if more should be done along those lines. Different perspectives on this followed.
• [5]David Moinniaux cross-posted his recent concerns about not allowing non-commercial licensed content on Wikipedia. Considerable discussion followed, much of it also cross-posted with the foundation-l mailing list.
