What is happening in Let’s Connect this month[edit]

Welcome to April’s issue of the Let’s Connect monthly newsletter. The month of March saw us do a Wikimedia movement wide outreach to grow more interest in Lets Connect from the working group members. If you missed our outreach communication find it here: March Outreach.

What Learning Clinics can you start getting excited about?[edit]

  • Lets Connect Learning Clinic: Introduction to Wikipedia Library: Product and Partnerships (time zone # 1 & #2). This learning clinic is being held in two time zone 1 and 2 to give participants from different time zones opportunity to participate fully in it.

👉What is this Learning Clinic for? 🤔

  • To provide participants with an overview of Wikipedia Library.
  • To provide participants with the workings of the Wikipedia Library.
  • To see Product and partnership case studies: In collaboration with Wikimedia Deutschland on Wikipedia library.
  • To encourage active participation in enriching the Wikipedia Library's resources.

👉 What do I need to prepare? 🧠

  • Want to see what the Wikipedia Library looks like? Do well to check out the main page.
  • To be eligible, you must have had an active Wikimedia account for at least 6 months, contributed at least 500 times to Wikimedia projects, made at least 10 edits in the past month, and not be currently blocked from writing on any Wikimedia project.

  • Let’s Connect April Connectathon.

The Let's Connect monthly Connectathon happens every first Friday of the month. It is an opportunity for all Let's Connect participants to understand what is going on with our members, a safe space for relaxed learning on topics of interest from our liaisons and how we can help answer some of your questions about Let's Connect.

The session, "WikiWellness: Strategies for stress reduction and burnout prevention," will take place on April 5th, 2024 at 3pm-4pm UTC This session will be held via Zoom, and here is the link.

NB: All Lets Connect participants have been sent calendar invites to RSVP for this Connectathon. Please accept calendar invites from now on and receive your invites

Other learning opportunities in the Movement[edit]

  • April 19 - April 21 The Wikimedia Summit will be happening in Berlin, Germany and will be organised by the Wikimedia Deutschland.
  • Are you rushing your #Wikimania2024 program proposal last minute? You're not the only one. The Core Organizing team has decided to extend the deadline by a week. Over 150 people already made their submissions, make sure to join them by April 10, 12:00 UTC!

News from Movement Strategy[edit]

The full draft of the Movement Charter has been published on Meta for your review today

Why should you care? The Charter is important as it will be an essential document for the implementation of the 2030 strategy recommendations. Participating in the Charter discussions means that you ensure that your voice is heard and your interests are represented in shaping the future of the Movement.

Community Engagement – April 2nd to April 30th The Movement Charter Drafting Committee (MCDC) cordially invites everyone in the Wikimedia movement to share feedback on the full draft of the Wikimedia Movement Charter.

Let your voice be heard by sharing your feedback in any language on the Movement Charter Talk page, attending the community session on April 4th at 15.00-17.00 UTC, or via email movementcharter@wikimedia.org.

The month of March saw us focusing our energies on a Wikimedia movement wide outreach which saw us taking the Let’s Connect message to the various regions and communities. We are grateful to all the Let’s Connect Working Group members for making sure they diligently sent out all communications to their various regions.
