Template for producing a row of List of Wikipedias/sortable (talk, backlinks, edit).
For the language names in English, for each language the template uses a separate template [1], for example Template:Eln de: thus the pre-expand include size depends only linearly of the number of languages. The alternative, putting the whole array in one template with #switch, as in Template:N en, causes the pre-expand include size to be proportial to the square of the number of languages; this way the limit is quickly reached.
For the language families a single template Template:Lafa is used. Although also an array of 252 elements, the template is smaller due to the duplicates. Also this template just specifies the language family; Template:Lafalink takes care of the link, using the result of lafa as parameter. While lafalink uses the parameter twice, this way the include-size of lafa is counted only once per language.
