Background[edit]

In the current global space, visibility is the hall mark of every credible academics. Wikipedia as one of the most widely accessed sources of information on the internet remains one of the best spaces for visibility. Though there are articles exciting on Igbo academics in English Wikipedia only a few has been translated into Igbo language. In a bid to contribute to a more inclusive contents, IG Wiki Hub Enugu in partnership with Equity Watch Initiative (E-WIN) organized edit/translate -a thon focusing on contributing/translating existing articles on Igbo academics from English to Igbo Wikipedia.

Aim[edit]

  • The major aim of the event is to make Igbo academics more visible and bridge the content gap in Wikipedia to promote inclusivity which i s at the heart of the global agenda 2023 Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia Projects.
  • it is also targeted at promoting Igbo language and culture.
