The Marathi Wikimedians User Group Annual Report of activities for year 2022-2023[edit]

Introduction[edit]

The year 2022-2023 was also partially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, restrictions that affected the outreach activities to some extent. Still, the Marathi Wikimedians User Group conducted a good number of activities. Members focus more on awareness content creation and joint activities for Marathi Wikipedia.

Some key user group activities[edit]

Marathi Wikipedia with Art+Feminism[edit]

Marathi Wikimedians User Group organized editathon with ART + Feminism for the creation of content on Marathi Wikipedia. Due to the pandemic situation, the event was organized in virtual mode. The response from editors to the online event was overwhelming. More than 95 articles were created during the event.

Marathi Wikipedia Women's editathon 2023[edit]

Conducted Women's Editathon on World women’s day for bridging the gender gap on Marathi Wikipedia. The event page is here

To counter the gender imbalance on the Marathi Wikipedia, the Marathi Wikimedians user group started conducting a Women's Editathon. This year a week-long event was organized from 4th March 2023 to 12th March 2023 in partnership with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

The articles created were related to Women's business, women's sociology, women's politics, women’s fashion, jewelry, women’s education, and business.

The objective was

To bring the women to Marathi Wikipedia
Train them to use it
Create new articles
To grow the Marathi Wikipedia editor's community

Participation in Global Marathi Conference 2023[edit]

The government of Maharashtra organized an international conference to interact with global Marathi citizens. They invited the Marathi wikimedians user group to actively participate in strengthening the Marathi language internationally. The participation in the conference during 4rd to 6th January 2023 has helped to create awareness about Marathi Wikipedia in global Marathi language speaking community. This is going to help in increasing the participation of global Marathi-speaking people on Marathi Wikipedia.

Participation in All India Marathi Literature Conference 2023[edit]

The Marathi language literature board invited the Marathi wikimedians user group to participate in "Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan 2023, Wardha". The participation in the conference during 3rd to 5th February 2023 has helped to create awareness about Marathi Wikipedia in Marathi literary and Marathi Wikipedia will get more active participation from the literary community in near future.

Miscellaneous[edit]

Apart from the above activities, the Marathi Wikimedians User Group arranges regular meetups.

The volunteers of the user group participate in wiki awareness campaigns and mentoring on a regular basis.
