HiddenStructure
The text .hiddenStructure { display:none; } on this page MediaWiki:Common.css hides by default parts of a text within tags <span class="hiddenStructure">..</span>, but allows users to see such texts in any desired style by overriding the CSS.
It has been used before the introduction of Extension:ParserFunctions for branching (for final display only, it does not work for use of the result in expressions for template names, parameter names, parameter values, page names in links, etc.). That use is now deprecated.
