I e-mailed this user, as it is impossible to fulfill his whole request. Nadzik (talk) 22:59, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Nadzik: Why is not possible to fulfill their whole request? ‐‐1997kB (talk) 08:27, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@1997kB: my understanding was that the user wanted us to perform an action in such style, that the page "View history" in articles he created, won't show his new nickname. I e-mailed him and he explained to me that he is okay with that and just wanted to make it happen so his old ~~~~ won't lead to his new username. Cheers! @Nadzik: Well no. In such cases users generally do not want their old username to be linked with new name and this can be easily achieved by suppressing rename redirects. Even we have practice of suppressing rename redirects of all request related to vanishing. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 09:38, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@1997kB:, yes. But if someone was to rename you, our new nick would be visible here no matter what. Unless there is a way to suppress that too, please let me know. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 10:48, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Nadzik: Well rename doesn't offer true vanishing and all this can be easily tracked if someone knows a little bit about MediaWiki. I think this is mainly built for users who leave the project and don't want their name to be linked with contributions, this was never made for anonymity or privacy and that's why we can't do much with such requests. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 15:32, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@1997kB: well, of course. That is why I sad that the request cannot be fulfilled in full. Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 16:46, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But that's not what they requested and their explanation to you by email confirms that. As I said, people just want to suppress redirect in such requests. The point by which you saying that it's impossible to fullfill this request is nearly impossible to happen in a environment where each edit needs to be attributed to it's author. That's why we just make author username random name. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 02:55, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
